Syosset was settled in the late 17th century and historically celebrated for apple, peach, and wheat farms. Following the arrival of the railroad, it grew into an affluent residential and corporate hamlet in the Town of Oyster Bay, known for nationally recognized public school districts, community parks, and direct commuter train access.
