Brentwood was founded in 1851 as ‘Modern Times,’ an experimental utopian community practicing individual sovereignty and equitable commerce. In the late 19th century, it became home to the Sisters of St. Joseph motherhouse. Today, Brentwood is a vibrant, culturally rich community and home to the Michael J. Grant Campus of Suffolk County Community College.
