Bohemia was settled in 1855 by Czech (Bohemian) immigrants who established cigar-making factories and small farms. Located adjacent to Long Island MacArthur Airport, Bohemia is home to Connetquot River State Park Preserve, a 3,473-acre sanctuary dedicated to preserving historic trout hatcheries and pine barrens.
