Elmont was settled by English colonists in the 1650s and was originally known as Foster’s Meadow. Situated on the border of Queens, Elmont is internationally celebrated as the home of Belmont Park racetrack, home to the legendary Belmont Stakes (the third jewel of horse racing’s Triple Crown), and the modern UBS Arena at Belmont Park.
