Jericho was founded in the late 17th century by English Quakers, including famed abolitionist preacher Elias Hicks, who constructed the historic 1788 Jericho Friends Meeting House. Located along the historic Jericho Turnpike, it developed into an affluent Gold Coast community noted for top-ranked schools and corporate campuses.
