Incorporated in 1968, Lake Grove takes its name from nearby Lake Ronkonkoma. Once an agricultural settlement centered around the historic 1818 First Presbyterian Church, Lake Grove evolved into a premier retail center of Suffolk County, anchored by the Smith Haven Mall.
