Merrick was named after the indigenous Meroke tribe and settled by European colonists in 1643. In the 1860s, it gained prominence as the site of Methodist summer revival camp meetings, celebrated today in the historic ‘Tiny Town’ Victorian cottage district. Bordering East Bay, Merrick is a desirable suburban community with extensive boat canals.
