Mineola serves as the official county seat of Nassau County, housing the county executive, legislative, and supreme court complexes. Settled in the 17th century and named after an Algonquin term meaning ‘pleasant place,’ Mineola emerged as a vital railway hub and early testing ground for pioneer aviators in the 1910s.
