Nesconset takes its name from a Native American word meaning ‘second pleasant land.’ Settled primarily as farmland in the 18th century, Nesconset developed into a peaceful residential community in the Town of Smithtown, featuring the popular Gibbs Pond and Nesconset Branch community library.
