New Suffolk is an idyllic waterfront hamlet located on Cutchogue Harbor and Peconic Bay. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, New Suffolk was the birthplace of the modern United States Submarine Service, serving as the official trial base for the USS Holland (SS-1), the nation’s first commissioned naval submarine.
