Seaford was settled in 1664 and originally named Jerusalem South, before being renamed in 1868 after landowner John Jackson’s ancestral hometown in Sussex, England. Seaford preserves a rich maritime bayman heritage, highlighted by tackle shops, boat basins on Seaford Creek, and the Seaford Historical Museum.
